News Flash!!! Laughter cures all...

I was reading through old journal entries and I'm a sentimental sap if I must say so myself....I had to get this documented before I possibly lose this journal to fire or something else that randomly occurs and you cannot predict. So here goes:

Hello there,

I'm up late huh? Well I'm very happy to say it's not because I've been speeding, in fact it's because Brian, Brian's cousin (Dustin, but they call him Rusty?), Amy and I went exploring Golden Valley for this hidden beach we heard about.

Tonight, after work, I told Devona I'd chill with her. We chilled until 1 am and then I drove out to Brooklyn Park to meet up with Brian and the rest of the gang. It was fun exploring outdoors and it was the most gorgeous night! A little chilly, but the moon was shining so bright and there was fog over everything....pretty cool shiat!

I can't stop laughing about how Brian fell in a swamp, if some random person saw me right now they'd think I'm a nutcase because I'm writing and giggling like crazy.

Anyways, we knew we were close to this beach and Brian's like, "this way guys." He was all leading us with his handy-dandy flashlight and he's all, "hmmmm, it's getting wet." Sure enough he drops into what looked like quicksand and he couldn't get his legs out right away. He goes, "that's fuckeddddd uppppp!" The look on his face was PRICELESS and oh-my-gawwwd my sides are hurting from laughing so much.

So he ended up having mud up to his hips, but we ended up finding the beach so he cleaned up in that. Dusty and him made a bonfire, we just sat and chilled as Brian had steam coming off his pants from getting warm by the fire......which made me laugh even more. Needless to say it was an entertaining night.

Random Memory of Cali Vacation February 2009

A few of my favorite highlights were of going to Stinson Beach at sunset. Guzzling a beer with a good friend, good weather and birds attacking the bag which held our beers. I also remember how scary the highway was to get there! The infamous Highway 1.

Then of course there was Santa Cruz, where we'd intended to walk along the boardwalk at night with all the amusement park rides and lights surrounding us, only to find out the amusement park is closed in the winter. It still ended up being a good time, we had a sweet waitress at the restaurant we went to, she gave us downtown tips and a birthday cake for Amy. We bar hopped from that first restaurant and got a bit tipsy since neither of us had to drive.

The first bar we entered was a total dive bar, it wasn't too happening so we decided to venture on. The next bar we hit up was an artsy bar that had really gorgeous and neat paintings hanging up all around it. We had to leave this bar after we realized we were the drunkest ones there. "Hey Amy!!" I yelled out in the middle of the bar, "remember that time we snorted coke off the railroad tracks before Ryan's birthday?" I didn't realize how quiet the bar was until I realized how loud I sounded.

The last (but certainly not the least) bar and adventure of the night we stumbled upon was a goth bar. It was called "The Blue Lagoon." I went up to the bar to grab our beers and ran into a cute goth dweller whom I thought Amy might like? I invited him back to our table (I must have been pretty drunk because I rarely do such a bold, outgoing move.) We talked to him and his Christian Bale-looking friend for awhile and then they mention that there is a dance floor. Amy went to check it out and came back immediately to rush me over there and what I saw made me just burst out laughing.

I will never be able to explain how funny it is to watch people dance to "goth/electronica" music. We tried to catch live footage on my camera, but it never quite captured the moment the way we saw it. All I can say is that when it was the next day and we were hungover, depressed that it was our last day in California, depressed that my stomach hurt, depressed that we had to return our rental car, all we had to do was think of those dancers and we both just broke out laughing. Sure, I never got to see "The Lost Boys" amusement park all lit up, but I think what I saw instead just might be a little bit better.

Why do it?

Why am I creating a blog? I don't know, but maybe I'll surprise myself and like it? I already have journals and journals falling out of my nightstand. I suppose journals are different though, those are my deepest and darkest (ohhhhhh) secrets! This will be good, for sure. I have so many stories that I'd like others to see.........so enjoy!!
